Physical fitness, particularly through aerobic exercise, combined with adequate duration, frequency, and intensity of strength training, offers numerous benefits. 

  • While many people think of exercise solely in terms of calorie expenditure, weight loss, and enhanced appearance—which are certainly important benefits—there are even more significant — and potentially life-saving — advantages to engaging in regular exercise. 

  • Daily physical activity, especially aerobic exercise, enhances cardiovascular endurance, reduces the risk of heart attacks, and increases the chances of recovery if one does occur (heart disease claims the lives of over 550,000 Americans each year). 

  • In addition to these benefits, regular exercise also improves mental alertness and sleep quality, increases longevity, reduces fatigue, and lowers blood pressure, among other positive effects.
